There’s a certain anachronistic elegance to using the same characters people who had to physically lay out their printed books on presses had to use.
I like adding en and em dashes to my writing, and I don’t think somebody experienced in AI writing would mistake my content for slop based on their presence alone.
We don’t “need” capital and lower case letters either technically but we agree to use them because it makes for a nicer reading experience.
I feel like homelabs are our generations’ model train nerd hobby equivalent. I get so much joy in being able to connect the containers and hardware and doing for myself what I was paying others for via subscription.

Nobody up here is taking these threats seriously anymore. Manufacturing in the US would immediately crater. So many Americans would lose jobs, and thanks to their bullying isolationism nobody is lining up to replace Canada as a viable trading partner.
Having no free trade with the US would suck but it’s temporary. Being a vassal state or getting annexed is permanent.

I honestly don’t know what to do, and I don’t think anybody does. Coworkers, other professionals, therapists—there is no consensus.
I fucking love development. I went to computer camp and decided I wanted this career at age 10 before I even understood it was a possibility.
I want to be paid to know things. Not to supervise a guessing machine and guide it like a sycophantic lost puppy.
I cling to the hope that AI companies will burn through their revenue and will implode under their own infestors’ demand for ROI before they truly have something that wipes away the entire profession. I am a terrible gardener.
