Just learned about him through cultural osmosis. I guess he’s a polarizing figure for being a strong jawed Indian nationalist who has aggressively postured at defending Indian interests against its neighbors, but also low key is a Hindu fundamentalist trying to do an ethnostate.

India’s caste system guarantees that even in an ethnostate there’s just always going to be a minority to exploit so to a lot of people he kind of represents an archon of death or something similar just willing death into the world and his subjects.

But I’m not Indian, don’t have to actively defend a neighboring border against China, and don’t exist in a literal caste so take everything I just said with a grain of salt.

High school best friend’s first, long-term girlfriend became infatuated with me when we met. The more unavailable I tried to be, the more limerance I caused in her. I eventually started to crack because I wasn’t use to the attention and being pursued at all. It got ugly, I damaged that friendship irreparably but at least she realized I was kind of a piece of shit once she finally got to know me. Not soon enough for it to not be a disaster for everyone though.

You’re going to face a lot of it, too many years of bad shit to live down. You’ll either have to incorporate the atrocities into your worldview and belief or relegate your faith to private. But luckily your moral framework is one that hinges on it never being too late to meaningfully act to improve the world, regardless of what anyone thinks about you.

As an athiest yours is my favorite faith, despite everything. Your culture and history is as beatiful and blood soaked and numinous and complicated as any other, I hope you come to see your place within it as compelling as your faith is to me.
