One of my favorite movies of all time is “Let the Right one In” (“Låt den rätte komma in”), a Swedish romantic horror film. There is an American remake called “Let Me In”. The pacing, mood, and atmosphere of the remake don’t even come close the original. I believe the American versions of foreign films are often more expensive, polished, and with better actors, but I don’t need that to enjoy a film. One recent example is “Bugonia” which was nominated for 4 academy awards and is very well made, yet I enjoyed the Korean original “Save the Green Planet!” just as much.

Baking soda is too weak. As far as I know they use sodium hydroxide in bakeries, which is kind of dangerous because it can cause serious burns on the skin. You can bake your baking soda to make the solution slightly more alkaline but it will still be a lot weaker than the stuff that’s used commercially.

I discussed this recently with a friend. Commercial gambling, e.g. slot machines, online poker, F2P mobile games, sports betting, etc. seems like exploitation of weak people. These products are carefully optimized for return of investment, which always means nudging people to play more, even if it’s bad for them. I had a similar experience with OOT, never owned an N64 but finally played it 2 years ago on PC. IMO the gameplay just isn’t very good by today’s standards, yet it was very innovative for its time. Some of my friends who played it in the 90s when they were young still love that game.

As others have said, I too think the golden era of video games is now. Games are getting better and better and there has never been a bigger selection of games to play than right now. There have never been as many people enjoying video games than right now. That being said, I don’t play as much as I used to, but that’s mostly because I’ve been getting older and working in video games for almost 20 years I’ve been a bit overexposed to the medium.
