What’s really amazing to me is that the city’s lawyer didn’t catch and call them out. That’s also showing a lack of professionalism and ethics because it is clear that they did not read and consider the opposing party’s arguments.

I also think that the Democratic party is lead by people who are among the elite and have no real connection to the average person. The GOP doesn’t either but they tell a story that will compel those with enlarged amygdalas.

I work at a university and also have many degrees. You’d be amazed at the number of times I have heard people tell me that they aren’t interested in learning, they just want the paper so that they can get a job. For many people, improvement and growth aren’t part of the equation, they are only focusing on a future paycheck.

What’s unusual about this is that to get into Berkeley CS you’re already a super elite student. AI hasn’t been around for so long that these people cheated through high school.

Slavery has always been legal in the US and will always be legal until a constitutional amendment removes it. The only time slavery is not legal is when it is based on race.

Some southern states just got rid of a whole lot of child protection in the name of the economy.

I used to think that but have come to the conclusion in recent years that people act the way they do because their lives are genuinely terrible and there is no possibility of them becoming better because there is nowhere for them to go. For those with great motivation, great intelligence, or great connections, there are plenty of things to do. For the average person brought up in and living in an average way, though, there is nothing but generational pain.

Sadly, most people don’t have enough imagination to consider how things could be better for them or everyone.
