The government is supposed to be by us, for us. Technically, we get to define what the government’s scope is. But we make that decision as a group.
Surban mom.

This is more efficient and cost effective anyway. It’s bonkers we don’t let people select their own food.

Theoretically, it looks possible for the GOP to lose the house before November. Which I’m totally rooting for.

They don’t cover the whole state - just the Puget Sound area and not all of that is electrcity. We have a bunch of PUDs, which is a far superior model in my mind. I’d be willing to organize to get PSE out.

I think it’s let them eat less cake. 😉

They tried it in Oregon. Worth reading about what worked and what didn’t.

So I work with public utilities / co-ops (different from private utilities). One of the challenges I consistently see is the utilities are handed a bunch of regulations without the funding to adequately support them. This strikes me as similar. Lineman safety is a real concern. I suspect it could be mitigated, but those mitigations probably come with a cost. The easiest fix is to fund lineman safety measures in the bill.

What the hell did I just watch? Are my tax dollars going to this? JFC.

You can tax all sorts of things that effectively eliminates that class. Capital gains, assets, income, etc. Choose a number and tax the shit out of anything above it. I don’t even think the government needs that much money - but I really don’t want that class to exist anymore. Let’s make it happen.
I’m like 97% sure that this sport started on a dare.
Deep fryer owner here. Nothing I’ve fried has been made worse by the deep fryer - and most things are substantially better. I do not regret the purchase.

I live in the PNW, where there are several varieties of poisonous mushrooms, including death caps. Apparently people can safely forage for mushrooms - but it scares the crap out of me because of the exact scenario in this article.
I’m pretty sure the car in the top picture is a Lada Samara made by AvtoVAZ, which was a company started in the 60s as a project between Fiat and the USSR. And the first car it made was a slightly modified and rebadged Fiat 124. So, I’m not sure you can claim capitalism wasn’t involved.

Dumb question: why are they targeting USAID?

Talk to your boss before your next shift - being proactive is key. Explain that you had a momentary blib of a reaction that embarrassed you and you left early. If your boss is anywhere near human, they will understand and offer guidance on what you can do if it ever happens again. Not that you owe your coworkers an explanation, but if you feel you need to address it, you can say something casual like, “sorry for the flip out yesterday, I’m not a great speller and can be embarrassed about it.”
This is a learning experience (albeit a terrible one). And if it makes you feel any better, anything I’m good at is because something terrible happened. I’m good at lots of stuff now. 😉
Hang in there!!

To be fair, I also see Hanford (Washington state). I see that we can’t commit to 50 years of maintenance, let alone hundreds of years. I see saddling generations with cost and care so we can have electricity today. I’d feel better about nuclear if we paid for the full cost upfront.
There is no problem. If you can do 8 hours of work (well) in 4 hours, you should be able to use the extra time however you want.
