It makes sense when you see Teslas for what they are. They are a status symbol. They represent apartheid, colonialism, oligarchy, child exploitation and genocide. Whenever you see someone driving one, they are proudly stating that is what they support. The more they show support for those things without consequence signals it is open season for exploitation. Now we have an entire financial system built on exploitation. So when you see a high valuation for a company that makes it their symbol, it means the system would not exist without those ideas.

It’s one thing to ban bicycle lanes, but something else to ban speed cameras. The issue I have with speed cameras is how they are used for surveillance and tracking. In that case the people deserve public access to the data.

This is why the push to subsidize these AI companies and data centers with your taxpayer money is dumb, when ultimately they’ll use them against you. If anything though they need to be making consumer AI cheaper. Manufacturers are engaging in antitrust activities and they need to be held accountable.

What does being civilly liable mean to you?

No one controls “the” AI . There are many types of AI. There are competing interests domestic & foreign. So no single corporation owns or controls “the” AI. I don’t disagree that some have significantly more influence over what is accessible to the general public, especially using hosted providers, but there are many people who run their own locally as well. I just believe a centralized government significantly controlling the cans and cants is much worse, just as if the government were to control what cryptography algorithms people can use.
