The fact that the Arch maintainers seem to prefer Reddit over their own fucking news channel is what made me switch from Arch years ago. I got sick of upstream breaking changes fucking my system because they wouldn’t notify people through official channels, only to find it later on /r/archlinux 🙄🙄🙄

Yeah. The real challenge with leaving GitHub is the availability of free macOS and Windows build environments (if you’re in to that weird stuff 🧐).
Codeberg only has Linux runners (to my knowledge), but I spent the time to make my project cross-compile to macOS and it was well worth it to move my stuff off of shithub.
Pedants will be quick to point out that the original sudo is also pushover licensed, but that doesn’t change the fact that this is still a downside in the Rust version as well.

In my opinion, you can start anywhere. They all build off of each other’s lore in small ways. You won’t be missing out on anything by starting anywhere you want.
I agree with the other comment: RE2 Remake is a good place to start if you care about having modern quality-of-life stuff. You really can’t go wrong with anything else though.

Yes, you can. It’s just an ARM64 computer. The only special consideration is that the kernel uses 16K pages instead of 4K pages, but that’s not something I’ve encountered problems with.
Pretty much all COSMIC desktop apps have translation support built in (because most of them are built from templates that support them). I’m sure many of them could use your help.

It was years ago when Arch pissed me off, but I couldn’t resist Arch-based distros forever. So far, I haven’t been burned.
On my laptop, Asahi Linux, which is basically Fedora ARM with a custom kernel. I’d recommend Fedora to most general users.
