Sorry for another reddit-based post, but today reddit held a poll: Do you want the United States to become socialist? Most Americans voted No, and most non-Americans voted Yes.

I’m sure it’s different in other regions, but in the bowels of the Bible Belt (and on larger instances), most are Nazi collaborative, thinking they’re supporting democracy or something, I don’t even know, anymore.
Reddit is a hellsite, but I have to wonder how different the results would have been if the poll asked about specific policies, rather than invoking the scary s-word. USAmericans are so conditioned to a knee-jerk hate response on that topic that a poll phrased that way almost feels like bait.
Reddit isn’t real. That poll is like 40% bots and sock puppets at the minimum.
As others have pointed out, Reddit is mainly Hasbara and CIA bots, but even for the actual human users, Reddit is predominantly composed of tech sector and higher level office workers who benefit at least somewhat from the current system. Then did those who are subjugated under the boot of capital, their compliance betrays the deliberately paltry education the capital class provides the masses with.
Most Americans, I have talked to, are not satisfied with the political system and things that are capitalistic. They know the problems, but not the solution. They are not aware that socialism is the solution for them, they only hear bad things about it.
You can’t tell them to break free from chains because Most have worn the chains so long they dont notice it. It’s why the governent fights so hard against it because if they do feel some relief they will know more is possible.
Reddit is just Reddit. It never represents the thoughts of a country. The USA would have tremendous potential if a bolshevik revolution would happen there. And there is also a reason why the actual imperialist hegemon is fighting that strong against socialism. This country is fucked, its really bad for the people there, so of course the superstructure is trying its outmost to repress, shaping the whole culture pro capitalist.
But things can change fast. I always remind how weak the bolsheviks were, but certain things turned it from the februar revolution to the october revolution. Lenin himself didnt belive in witnessing a socialist revolution, it would be a task of the younger generation. We know he was wrong with that. But exactly this is the reason why we need to study the bolshevik revolution in detail.
If the USA would witness a bolshevik revolution and then become the Soviet Union of Socialist States, it would be a major win world wide. I am sure the people of the US want an alternative, however the Überbau or Superstrucutre is so freaking aggressive, its probably even a separate topic.
And for those who say they want socialism, many believe it can be voted into existence with some version of social democracy. They still want capitalism, but with “free” stuff.
