Anthropic has suggested a global pause on building the most powerful AI systems as the latest models are beginning to show signs they could escape human control.

So Anthslopic is some kind of trouble that they need to cover up before their IPO?

“As we flirt with a prospective IPO for our hilariously unprofitable company, I would just like to say our product is so good it scares me.”

Actually, I think Anthropoid recently turned profitable for the first time?

Surely not because Deepseek V4 is 95% as good for 3% of the price. An unrelated concern I’m sure.

How do they manage that, btw? Are their models so efficient or are the subsidizing their service like no other?

They have a new attention mechanism, that in short, compresses the context.

        And yes probably subsidies too

Wouldn’t be surprised if the big players have something similar, given they both updated to 1M context window recently

Still, this is great news for everyone whose name isn’t Dario or Sam. Assuming they have open source it or at least publish the whitepaper

I’m so handsome and charming I shouldn’t be in the same room as 90% of women and 10% of men lest they become so overcome with insane list they rip their clothes off and have hours of hard, passionate, energetic sex with me. I just couldn’t bear to break up every non-lesbian couple I meet with my incredible animal magnetism, so for the good of society, people must only be allowed to admire me from a distance.
