However, them saying they’ll leave is a bluff. It’s been done before in other places and they didn’t really leave. Even after a couple did actually leave, the returns from the ones who stayed was still more than before.
Norway raised their wealth tax recently, despite the cries from rich people “being forced” to leave.
Some did in fact leave because of it.
But the tax revenue from the ones that remained more than made up for the lack of contributions from the ones leaving.
One news outlet described it as “turning a trickle into a stream”.
Fuck the petty cash trickles from the ones who don’t want to be here. Let them leave. They can go not pay their tax elsewhere. See how that works out for Texas or wherever.
