Finished Owlboy.
It was a fun game, but there were some parts I didn’t like much. There are some sections where you have to navigate through darkness, and there are spikes on the walls, didn’t like that. There were also some areas which were time based, don’t like those either. Doesn’t make it a bad game though, there are many good parts, but it’s not perfect. Personally, I will rate it as a good but not a great game. If you like 2D platformers, it’s worth a try.
Started Star Fox. I have only played the tutorial though, haven’t even started the campaign, but that is going to be the primary game for the weekend.
This is also the first time I properly tried the mouse mode of Switch 2, and I am really impressed. It works really well, had to spend some time thinking if I should play the game in mouse mode or normal control. You can change the controls on runtime though, so it’s not a big decision.
Reached the second area Monster Hunter Stories. The game seems to be opening up, fast travel is also unlocked, and I have finally more than 5 monsties. 5 is the limit of what we can have active party at a time. Going to put it on a back burner for a bit and focus on Star Fox.
Played Fallout 4, completed some quest lines, and took care of some bigger quests. Also played some Earth Defense Force 5. Nothing worth mentioning there though.
What about all of you? What have you been playing and/or plan to play?
i start to play The Adventure of Elliot, my first switch 2 game after mario kart. Didn’t read to good stuff about the performance, but i hope it’s alright, i thought it’s a good hand held title.
Owlboy is very beautiful. Didn’t played it myself but my girlfriend played it. So i didn’t navigate through these darkness sections or spikes.
I have high hopes for the Adventure of Elliot. How are you enjoying it so far?
First of all, i think the performance is alright. The critic about that was probably a bit to much, sure there are loading times, but nothing horrible.
Ok now about the actual game, it feels like 2D Zelda, i expected a bit more rpg mechanics, so far i doubt it’s even an rpg, but it really is like a 2D zelda. I’m not that far in, but having sword, boomerang and other weapons. Able to throw tall gras and pods, having life points like hearts, having something like heart pieces. I knew people compared it to zelda, but it’s way more Zelda coded that i have expected. But on the other hand it lacks deph a zelda game has. If i’m in a bit city for example minish cap, there are so much secret to find, finding secret in wells, have here and there exciting npcs, there was nothing like that, so far, in The adeventure of Eliott. Probably a more action combat focused game, but i will see with further dungeons and secrets i see. Just an early impression.
But i enjoy it so far, it’s a decent game at least will tell more when i played more.
Interesting, I was expecting action RPG, so no in-depth RPG mechanics, but still some RPG stuff. Looking forward to your further reviews.
Star Fox!! I’ve already finished two runs, I want to go through all the planets. I wanted to get the proper ending on my first run, but I messed it up in one of the later missions. Then I’ll check out the online and battle modes. Might even try my webcam to have fun with it 😁
I haven’t tried mouse mode at all on Switch 2 yet, I think this is the time!
There are proper and non-proper endings? Any non-spoilery thing I should be aware of?
You should try the mouse mode, it’s really good. Though if you haven’t played PC games in a while, might take a bit getting used to.
If you get to Andross through the hard route, you get a different ending. I don’t remember what the exact rules are, but I think you need to arrive to Venom from the leftmost side and beat Star Wolf before facing Andross. That’s all I can say without spoilers.
I think I figured out, there’s a mission where I failed an objective but it was mission completed, and it gave me a path, I replayed and “accomplished” the mission and got a branching path.
Of course I took the new / difficult path, then got stuck on the boss and lost all my lives, but that’s a story for another day.
I’m excited to play Star Fox, but I don’t own a switch 2 yet, but I should be able to get one relative soon. Currently I’m playing Mechwarrior 5: mercenaries on PC and loving it. Also picked up cities skylines on sale and enjoy it but I also suck at it. And I’m playing final fantasy 4 pixel remaster in the evenings on my switch. I’ve never played a final fantasy game and own the 1-6 remaster bundle on switch. So hopefully this is the game to finally get me into the series.
Just got Outbound, and it’s a fun chilled out game. Basically i just drive around this wilderness with my dog, collect things and build a house on top of my van.
Outbound looks interesting, I have it on my wishlist. Are you playing on Switch? How’s the performance? I think I read somewhere that Switch version had some performance issues on launch.
I’m playing on a Switch 2. So far i haven’t noticed any issues with it.
Good to know. Thanks for the info!
Took a short break from Fallout after Point Lookout to play Mega Man again. Back on the Wii U I managed to beat the game without the Pause-Exploit for the first time and thought I’d have a hard time with that again, but apparently Mega Man is like riding a bicycle. I was definitely a bit rusty, but didn’t really get stuck.
Slowed down my pace on Yoshi’s Mysterious Mystery Book Mystery. It’s a nice one-level-at-a-time game. When I first saw the stealth level, I expected to hate it but it turned out to be one of my favorites. Which was a nice change of pace after the surfboard level was my least favorite level despite what it should be.
Visions of Mana froze on me. Don’t pause the game during a class strike! I don’t know if it’s consistent, but I’m not going to try. Then a group of enemies’ walk animation broke and they hovered towards me, T-posing menacingly! Also, for a long time now, a lot of area maps have had outdated quest markers the game never cleared. I wasn’t going to mention that, but since we’re apparently now collecting glitches, I might as well!
I think I’m really approaching the endgame now. Hunting down the Benevodons is classic Mana and I’m loving it! It’s a bit strange that they brought back Zable Fahr as the Benevodon of Darkness when the other seven are new, but that one has always been my favorite and seeing a screenshot of it was a big reason why I had the urge to start the game when I did. I’m also starting to get side quests for the high-level nemesis-type enemies. Which is great, because I never bothered to write down where they are! Very convenient.
I played first 3 Mega Man games a little while back, and they are difficult. Even with Save States and Rewind, I ended up using the “pause-exploit”, not to mention the number of deaths I had before that. Though, I could feel this is the kind of game where if I really invested my time I could get better. Maybe not to the level where I could finish the game without exploit, but still much better than how I am right now, except I didn’t want to spend that much time on it. Too many games, too little time!
I don’t remember what you mean by stealth level, but surfboard one was pretty fun. Not my absolute favourite, but among the ones I liked more.
I don’t know if it’s consistent, but I’m not going to try.
Do it for the science! We need to know!
I did a quick search and don’t think these bugs are very common, you probably just got lucky.
I’m surprised you don’t remember the stealth level, it’s the only one I’ve seen so far where an enemy just murders you. You’re trapped in a temple and need to get four keys to get out.
And you just reminded me, speaking of doing a search on Visions of Mana bugs, I had another one early on where the second wave of enemies in a trial battle didn’t spawn and I couldn’t find help on that either. It worked after a restart though…
Finished Super Hydorah!
Good but really hard game. I barely managed to clear it in “Rookie” mode using something like 20+ continues - which is harder than the equivalent mode in most “bullet hell” shmups.
Playing Fate/Stay Night!
So here I go into the rabbit role of the Fate series. The prologue alone took me like 2h, so I imagine this will be a really, really long VN. Damn awesome prologue though, Rin and Archer’s banter was top tier.
Playing Stray!
An interesting adventure game with a cat and a robot exploring a post-apocaliptic world. Seems like it’s a short game, so I think I’ll be able to finish it this weekend.
I’ve had Super Hydorah on my backlog for too long… I am glad I wasn’t the only one finding it hard 😁
I’ve started Stray as well and I need to get back into it
I gotta stop this shit, I’ve got about five games on the burner right now.
Tears of the Kingdom was the last I fired up.
Stray is fun game. Played it when it was released on PlayStation and loved it. It was not what I expected, but still enjoyed my time with it.
How is Fate/Stay Night? I have been interested in the Fate series for a while, but haven’t read up on how to get started with the series. I do remember that there are some main series and then many spin-offs. Is this the first one? Or just one of multiple possible starting points?
Never heard of Super Hydorah, but it looks good. Of course I can’t easily finish the easier shmups, so not going to worry about one that is harder 😀

FSN is the first game ever in the franchise, and while I haven’t played a lot so far I’m liking it.
