Difficult situation to be in. It’s hard to be in friend groups that evolve into completely different views over time. Sometimes people stay in groups for too long just because they have a (long) shared history. It’s absolutely okay to cut people out of your life of they don’t level with you anymore. But that can be hard, especially if they are kinda the only group you socialize with.

Maybe you can find things you still have in common and enjoy together. Maybe you can’t. Just think about how you see things for a while and hopefully you can get a clearer view of what you want out of this group and if they can give it to you. Hell, maybe you can bring it up with them to see if they are aware of how you feel. If they are ND themselves chances are they don’t know lol.

Some days ago one of my coworkers asked another coworker and myself (both Dutch) about going out to a certain Dutch city for a bachelor party. His follow up question was if we knew any good prostitutes or strippers. I got mad at him for being a disgusting and degrading pig and asked him if he was seriously so pathetic as to do such a thing for a guy who WAS GOING TO GET MARRIED and that he should stop seeing women as objects to use.

He got really quiet and confused it seemed but that’s good. They need to be confronted by their shitty behavior and if you are in a position to do so, you should absolutely call them out for it.

There’s a book from Swedish author Nina Burton that’s called ‘Notes From A Summer Cottage’ in English. It’s about her experience inheriting her parents’ summer cottage in the woods in Sweden and how she finds out about all the life that is surrounding her, both plants and animals. She goes into detail about how life is much more connected than we think, using scientific examples and explanations.

It’s a really interesting book if you are into nature and ecology and such. It was also an important part of me becoming vegan, really.

Watching Olympics. Being Dutch this means watching (speed) skating as it is the only thing we win at. But the upside is that we win nearly everything there.

Planted some new stuff on my balcony garden today. Going for a (mostly) native cottage garden container with a main function of attracting bees and butterflies. I have several other containers with natives and wanted to spice some things up. Also made a bee hotel last week to give them a resting place.

Rest of my time goes to working out.
