I got the impression that they were referring to emigrants that naturalized and later repatriated, not necessarily their descendants. Also, just from my anecdotal experience, it seems that second-generation immigrants tend to learn both the native and host languages, and third-generation and beyond don’t know their native languages, or just bits and pieces. Source is my in-laws, as my wife is a second-generation immigrant (technically first but she was a baby when she came over.)

Charging at home or work would be great. From my perspective, the biggest obstacle to EV ownership is road trips. I just did a trip last week that was 2000 miles round-trip. Having to stop multiple times a day for charging would be a real challenge, not just for current lack of infrastructure, but also the time spent charging. Fuel stations are everywhere and I can have a full tank in <5 minutes. Until EV charging approaches these numbers, I don’t see myself owning an EV. Although I guess there is the option to rent a traditional vehicle for those periods, I usually make multiple 1000+ mile trips per year, so those costs aren’t insubstantial.

Yeah, they’ve got some bangers out there besides the ones I named, but I figured those two would give a pretty good idea of what one could expect from their music. I’m pretty partial to Savior, Satellite, and House on Fire myself.
I’ve heard them, but I’m not as familiar with them as Siren Song and later albums. I also remember them being much harsher musically compared to their later stuff. I personally wouldn’t recommend them to someone just getting into Rise Against as their current sound has evolved well past those albums, but they would be good for someone looking to see how the group sounded in their more formative years.

A good starting point would be the songs “Re-education (Through Labor)” and “Prayer of the Refugee.” If you like those, I would recommend pretty much any of their albums from Siren Song of the Counter-Culture to Wolves. I haven’t kept up with anything more recent than those so can’t give an honest recommendation there, but I would imagine they would also be solid.

Respectfully, I’ve been working in government for nearly 20 years. I know what my limits are and what I can get away with. I never signed any acknowledgement that I would keep the app on the phone. Worst case scenario and extremely unlikely to happen, they somehow notice it’s missing from my phone and ask me about it. “Oh, my bad. Didn’t know I wasn’t supposed to remove it.”
I also ignored the DOGE emails last year and I’m still around. I’m honestly not the least bit concerned.
