I quoted the article. I’d love to see some evidence that it was wrong. That it was Martin’s predecessor who commissioned the e:report, or, at the very least, that this wasn’t “a friend of his”.

The problem is with who was tasked with making the report. If it had been commissioned before your Big Daddy took power, and he had to deal with a sub-standard report and what to do with it, yeah, bad day at the office. But he commissioned it from this friend of his and that is concerning.

That means he’s not just someone having to clean up the mess, he’s part of the reason there is a mess in the first place.

Like I said, not fatal, but concerning.

It is. Multi party properly representative democracy is obviously desirable. There is just no clear path from here to there since FPTP makes it impossible and whoever wins in FPTP doesn’t want to change it.

Having lots of code appear out of thin air isn’t really of any help in making functional systems.

“Biggest threat” is not “one and only threat”. We’re well aware of what the US is.

But even for an AI, using assembly or going directly to machine code, would mean extra work for the AI. And it increases the risk of bugs. You have to be very careful when programming assembly. And I don’t think an AI understands that well enough to actually work.

I’m breaking into cold sweats at the thought of reviewing LLM generated assembly language.

The problem is not really the code. It is writing the specification of what the code should do. What properties the drawn districts should have. Anyone can then run the program and confirm that the results match the spec.

Hell, with a good spec, you can just vibe code that thing.

Also, at least so far, the LLMs really like to write very subtly wrong, weirdly over-complicated code in large quantities. So now you’re wading through all that looking for bugs and wondering whether to (make the LLM) simplify it down to something that can be maintained (by the LLM).
