Have you noticed that most headlines about something ridiculous Trump says (which is everything Trump says) put his actual words in quotes? That’s because the words he uses don’t mean anything in the real world. Trump can’t “expel” representatives.

Trump doesn’t know, or care, what the laws actually say. He just says what he wants to happen and hopes that it will magically happen. Or, occasionally, he will illegally use an arm of the executive branch to try to make one of these things happen.

I appreciate the press calling these out, to the extent of the quotes, but it would be nice if they would provide a little more context. Something like:
Trump Wants to “Expel” Representatives Who Threaten to Impeach Him But He Can’t

    “Expel”

But he can’t - esp. not across party lines. Last time I looked the US government still called itself democratic.

But it’s becoming the normal way of doing politics over there? At least for his constituency I guess. They really believe POTUS should have the right to do this Expelling. It not being possible then becomes an example of how the other side “weaponizes” the law.

I like that “deranged” is now a standard adjective in most any Trump article.

Buddy, we are through the looking glass.

He can do pretty much whatever the fuck he wants because nobody is stopping him.

Watch him literally “deport” these people

      We’re in fascism times.

Trump can legally kill people. Literally. He can point a gun in 5th Avenue and shoot someone and New York Court, SCOTUS, and his base, will all let him.

We cannot make arguments as if laws apply to this man because they simply don’t.

So when he says words like “expel”, we need to understand that he will try everything in his power, including things that are illegal to normal people like you and me, to accomplish his will.

I mean at this point the Republican reps allowing this to continue are actively engaged in this treason. They’ll need to be held just as culpable as the admin.

The stupidity is not that Trump wants to do this

The stupidity is that behaviour like this has been normalized by the American public and American leadership

They’re all taking steps to degrading and destroying themselves and no one ever wants to do much to stop it.

The Mississippi one is crazy. I voted in that ballot initiative when I lived there. It was for medical marijuana with very lax laws. But then the mayor of the richest county in the state took it to court. The ballot initiative even got the required votes in all the old districts too, planning for this, but the Supreme Court of MS is as dumb as a bag of rocks. Did the state repeal the voter ID law or the new flag that were both passed the same way? Hell no!

So glad I left that ass-backwards state.

30 some states have voter sponsored ballot initiatives, most are constitutional amendments, a few are just statutory, I’ve never heard of recalling a legislature with that process, which takes over a year to make happen, from getting signatures from voters, getting those validated, having electoral commissions ok the vote, then waiting for the actual vote.

It’s easy to laugh at his stupidity and tantrums

People should be concerned about his tame DOJ and other jurisdictions falsifying charges against those who he hates

If I were a gambling man, I would wager that there will be arrests before too long

Pretty easy to frame someone else for cheating while you’re cheating. Not sure how this didn’t occur to me until now as an option for midterms. Attribution is famously bullshit in cyber like economics in math or chiropractics in medicine.

Add it to the pile. Though the pile is kinda pointless when they aren’t impeaching him for any of it.

I’m not sure declaring his enemies in a constitutionally separate branch of government as “fired” counts as a high crime or misdemeanor, but if he tries to falsely imprison them or impede their official duties it sure is.

counts as a high crime or misdemeanor

That’s the fun part. Congress decides what high crimes and misdemeanors are. If they want to, they can impeach and remove him for picking his nose. Anything they can get enough votes for will count.
