If you’re living in one of those very conservative on women’s dress Islamic nations (i.e. Middle East or Central Asia) then there are cultural limits imposed beyond the baseline of the religion.
A Senegalese Muslim woman in colourful patterned headscarf and matching dress is following what Islam requires.
Some places have kept, or imposed, much stricter controls on women’s dress (amongst other things). And while they might choose to wear more colourful ones, many of these countries (i.e. Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Iran, Bahrain, through to Pakistan and Afghanistan) turn a blind eye to femicide and are plagued by honour killings.

Socially constructed idea varies by society.
Who’d’ve guessed?
You’ll find very colourfully yet modestly dressed Muslim women in Indonesia, India, Kenya, Senegal, and more.

Aye, I don’t consider myself especially sensitive to such things but a world where hunting and cannibalising babies is par for the course means there’s a lot of horrific moments of very horrific things.
It is a book/series that continues to bother me/come to the front of my thoughts often enough. Albiet sometimes in fun or non-traumatic ways too.
The PRC is helping kill Balochi and Burmese to keep it’s access to resources in those areas in the 21st century.
Which is far fewer than US imperialism across any comparible time scale.
Over the last 5,000 years: millions.

I enjoyed them, but felt at some point in Book 3 that I didn’t care hugely about most of the characters. But then things somewhat redeemed themselves, although I think something with the climax and Wormwood, but can’t quite recall what irked me specifically. Mostly fun romp, however. Sadly did mean I recognised a necklacing in a news headline while browsing International news, however.
Which makes it easy for me to compare and contrast with the not Sci-Fi but actual grim crapsack fantasy world of Red Wolf, Black Leopard (probably racistly since they’re both African inspired stories), where I stopped reading because of how grim and horrible the world and setting was, but the picked it up again a week later because it was so compelling and I wanted to find out what happened.
The horrors and atrocities get worse in Moon Witch, Spider King, and others more cerebral, which made it easier to keep reading.
But why quibble over the murkier “did he exist” ground when you could engage on “was he a miracle working guy who came back from the dead” and make them find more evidence for that!

Do you plan to only do things with romantic partner?
Why do you think you need a romantic partner?
… A better question would be: “what do you define as a friend?”
No shade on long songs, but when a good 3 to 5 mins are quite dissonant and with bizzare snippets of lyrics it tends to get called out by people who haven’t listened to Maggot Brain all the way through before.
All fun and games until they realise that Wars of Armageddon has a 10 minute run time.
That said, no one has complained about PJ Harvey yet.
And sadly still currently are in much of it.

Aye, only Protestantist Christianity (if it can be called that) and mormonism are worse.
The True Church of our Lord Father is Ethiopian Orthodoxy.

There’s a surface level understanding that racism is bad.
But that’s seen as having no impact on holding strong, negative, stereotypes about other ethnicities and cultures.
And tends to be, in many cases followed up with “it’s not a prejudice/racism, it’s a fact!” =(
Sadly there’s a lot of anti-African, anti-South East Asian, anti-Japanese & Korean, anti-Turkic, antisemitic, sentiment floating around in general in the PRC.

White man who lived in China here chiming in.
The racism, or at least prejudices and a lack of understanding that cause racism, are very real.
Asia benefited from being near the top of the racist hierarchy of lies that Europeans instituted in the 19th century and also mostly learn about Black people from Hollywood films. (There’s also a really odd trend of New Right and crypto-fash talking points getting popular and spread around Chinese social media.)
In China at least, dating is seen as valid only in the path to marriage, and family and kids is an expected and socially impressed upon goal. To the point where plenty of women in China have kids they don’t want because of familial and social pressure.
At the same time, Asian society is very colourist which combined with having ingested the racist hierarchy somewhat and only really knowing Black people and culture from Hollywood isn’t a great start.
Rounding it off, I China at least is a desire for in group marriage. Foreigners are seen as a risky choice, who could leave and don’t share the same cultural values (regardless of the truth of it).
White people get more of a benefit of a doubt, but there’s still pressure against a Chinese-White relationship. I’ve heard of plenty of families putting pressure that ens inter-ethnic relationships, and there is definitely more pressure against Chinese-Black relationships. (Both cases also, sexistly, exacerbated when Chinese women, foreign man.)
Don’t think this is anything new or not know, sadly.
If the family is supportive, things work a lot better - unsurprisingly. But with Asian value of family, if the family are openly against it, it’s very unlikely to work out.

Or maybe since he was an early written source for low culture, he is just the first attested source because we didn’t print out what plebs were talking about prior to that?

I thought it was a common first name because of all the fooling around in the Cyberdog dressing rooms?

Until a bunch of unknowns and uncertainty are added because no-one knows the future.
And they almost always assume that their actions won’t lead to a decline in users, too.

No, that’s Europe.
The PRC days off are appalling in comparison. And the previous comment didn’t even mention make up days.
Yes, but had had mental health issues from the start.
I mean, Pictures for Sad Children was the title, and wasn’t the ghost a suicide?
