All these sad influencers that try to be edgy. Look, we had the shock jock era with Howard Stern. Is it not time to move on?

Had a friend who worked “security” at big blue box electronics store. Was a big dude, intimidating. They gave the mandate though. Watch for thieves, but you can’t personally do anything. Liability, insurance.

So one day they had a repeat their. Small time, just Des and things, but my buddy stops him, tells him to get out. Guy pretty much wets himself and leaves. My former was promptly fired. He could have been hurt, went outside of his job.

Moral of the story, never stick your neck out for the company.

Look I know this is an odd hill to die on but Fun Fact! stores can legally detain you if they have reasonable suspicion you’re shoplifting. They are allowed to use reasonable force to prevent you from leaving until police arrive. The one caveat here is they don’t have immunity if they falsely accuse someone like the police do.

    I miss their comics.

I know they burned their bridges, but I still miss 'em.

They had a successful Kickstarter to fund a book of their comics.

They kinda dragged their feet on getting the books out by their backers’ standards/kinda ghosted updates.

Then posted a video of themselves burning the completed books, telling everyone to fuck off.

Then deleted as much of their comics from the web as they could.

I’m not saying they were right to have done any of that, but I do have a lot of sympathy for them. Kickstarters are not simple affairs, never have been. The processes are a lot more documented and streamlined now, but especially back when this happened, having to physically produce, order, and ship all those books on a successful campaign is in fact a lot of work. Especially when you have a lot of other things going on.

Mental breakdown, very public, people lost money so I understand why they feel burned. Again, not saying it’s right but as someone who did lose money over it … it was a book. I can understand the humanity of the situation and find sympathy for that.

Some people on the other hand love internet drama and can’t let things go.

            I miss the comics …

I think if you’re going to run a Kickstarter (other crowdfunding platforms are available) then you need to be ready to go. Have production partners on the phone, designs done, prototypes in hand, and a solid plan to get your items in the hands of your backers.

I don’t disagree that it’s hard work, but I do think you need to be fully aware and ready for how hard it’s gonna be before starting a campaign.

Yes, but had had mental health issues from the start.

I mean, Pictures for Sad Children was the title, and wasn’t the ghost a suicide?

The original ghost (Paul) died in a car accident. Iirc yes, one of them killed themselves to be with the other one.
