Construction, manufacturing, and other related industries are already experiencing rapidly slowing demand. Tarrifs and the Iran war made a huge dent there. As soon as the “big shot” investors finally realize that they’re going to get nothing more from the AI craze, they’re going to bail and the collapse will be fast and furious.
Edit: I hope that doesn’t actually happen but the outlook is not great.

healthcare
Lots of rural healthcare systems in the US have been circling the drain for years at this point so YMMV.

Research “value investing.” A lot of the stock market is pure speculation but it is very possible to invest in businesses who run a “good business”, meaning they’re more concerned about long term sustainability than maximizing their share price right now.

If I had a dollar for the number of times I’ve heard some CEO proudly declare in an all hands meeting that all his CEO buddies just LOVED the latest gleaming turd that we’re trying to speed run towards a failed MVP, I could buy myself a nice dinner. Tip included.
But those people are virtually never the target user. And they don’t really care what the target user thinks. They just think anything that has the remote whiff of dollar signs is a good idea.

“Nobody wants to work anymore” == “I pay so shitty wages that no one can even afford to come work for me.”

I’ve served on the board of non-profit daycares and I [vaguely] know at least one person who actually owns a for profit daycare.
Only a complete idiot would think they were going to make any money on a daycare. The overhead is nuts – even when paying really shitty compensation – and the competition is relentless.

If you build a factory someplace, the factory consumes a lot of resources and can be a nuisance. But in return, it provides jobs; at the very minimum. Going beyond that, usually someone in the corporate heirarchy is smart enough to realize that building good will with the neighbors is important and they encourage the employees to give back to the community to that end.
The actual impact may vary but if nothing else, symbolic gestures that say, “we know our presence here has an impact and we want to make sure it’s a positive impact as much as possible.” tend to go a long way in terms of winning support and acceptance from the community.
Data centers consume lots of resources and can be a nuisance. Unlike other operations, they provide very few long term jobs and give basically nothing back to their host community beyond that. They take far more than they give back. If the “geniuses” who run these tech firms spent less money lobbying politicians and instead offered to pay for the college tuition of every student who successfully graduated from the local high school, they would probably get a very different reaction from the public.
As my state declares Traditional Values Month
The best way to keep the peasants in line is by giving them other peasants to look down on. Makes them feel like they’re in charge of something.
Could not handle tower climbing. My hands are getting sweaty just looking at this picture.

The Blues Brothers

Some of the users definitely like to pontificate a bit much and there’s still gaps in reliable clients for some platforms (e.g. Apple TV). That said, Jellyfin, as a service, is solid.

Past me was a moron sometimes.

I was really disappointed when Resident Alien was cancelled. It’s a good show.

I feel bad for kids who have to suffer and/or die from easily preventable diseases because their parents are morons.

More like 12 years ago.
If the characters hadn’t spent practically every night drinking until 2AM, HIMYM could have been compressed into a movie with a shitty ending instead of 9 seasons with a shitty ending.

1998
…as much as it stings to type that.

I already switched months ago.
I’m going to need you to explain how that works. There are almost no expenses accrued by deliberately not filling a position. So what exactly is the company supposed to write off?
