I used to be a team lead and left because management was a bunch of cunts. I received two compliments I still treasure when I left. One was from someone on my team who said work was so much nicer when I took over because he was exposed to less bullshit. The other was from a fellow team lead who said that someone from his team said that he wanted to be like me during meetings. I always strive to keep them on track and as short as possible. Those were both really nice to hear.

I used to be north of Chicago for work once or twice a year. The hotel was right next to the office, so I could walk there. But that was the only place I could walk. I wanted to walk to the mall, as it was only 2km or so. But it was impossible. There was only a four lane road, no sidewalks. I also had to go to Princeton and it was better there, as the hotel was right next to a residential area and there were sidewalks there. But man, the US are incredibly car-centric.
