The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time will be reborn on Nintendo Switch 2 in 2026.
I feel old having played the originals of all these remakes coming out, and not being excited anymore. Though in this case, I played OoT 3D instead of the original.
I’m sure kids will like it though. That 3DS remake is 15 years old now.
I suppose the great thing about growing up with the original version of this game is that I’m wedded to the original look. No remake will ever interest me because of this. It just looks wrong.
OOT is one of my favorite games of all time. I’d be interested in this if I didn’t have to buy a Switch to play it. Forcing people to spend several hundred dollars on a device to play your games is so 1991.

My honest reaction (didn’t saw the direct, just the videos published later). Edit: some format things.
I play through this game at least once a year. Second favorite game of all time, just behind Majora’s Mask. Really looking forward to playing this one.
The club of people who like MM over OoT is super small. Glad to see another member in the wild!
Best 3D Zelda game for me. But boy, do I not fuck with this style. Not at all.
Yeah it didn’t sit well with me either. Hopefully, it’ll look better once we get to see more of it in action.
I’ve been waiting for the next Zelda to buy a switch 2… but as someone who still has their golden n64 cartridge, I’m not sure this is it
It’s probably getting more of a revamp than Star Fox at least
It hasn’t been long since Tears of the Kingdom so it might be a while. I hope we get something within couple of years though.
The next Zelda will be a launch title for the Switch 3.
This is definitely my worry, too.
Both Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom ended up in their list of best selling games, I doubt they will skip a whole generation.
Yeah, I was being facetious. It’s just gonna be while since TotK was only 3 years ago.
Ah, no worries.
Of right I forgot about that one. I haven’t played it, I was/am still kinda tired of the first one after 100%ing it
Just getting thru it myself. Actually just got my last shrines and light roots yesterday and headed to the final battle now.
It’s a joy to play on the Switch2 at 4k60 with very few frame drops.
I just want a new game in a core franchise.
Like Mario Kart, or Metroid, or Donkey Kong, or Splatoon, or Fire Emblem, or Xenogears, or a Pokemon game BETTER than the core franchise?
I think “core franchise” here means “3D Mario or Zelda.”
Yep, I’m STILL waiting on new Star Fox and Fzero too after all these years. My intention wasn’t to put down the ones mentioned above, but not even getting a whisper of new Zelda/Mario before getting OOoT and Star Fox remakes is a bummer.
We won’t get a new F-ZERO until Mario Kart stagnates. Miyamoto once said something to the effect of Nintendo not wanting to have two racing games compete with each other.
I hope Star Fox is something similar to what Metroid Prime Remastered was for Retro Studios. They used it as a project to get a new team to learn how to make a Metroid Prime. This could be a project to learn how to make Star Fox on Switch 2. So it’ll hopefully be a new beginning with more titles in the future following the same style.
I don’t think we’ll hear about new 3D Mario this year if we didn’t hear anything around the movie. Like Zelda, it’s probably taking ages because they’ll make something proper and big. Mario needs to implement some new game mechanic, who knows what they’ll come up with.
As a Metroid fan, having no new game is sometimes preferable. 😔 But I agree, F-Zero in particular has been neglected for far too long, even longer than Star Fox!

My only play-through of OOT has been the 3DS remake so really looking forward to picking this up again.
Love OOT, sitting this one out kinda sucks. But Nintendo is not getting my money.
There will be emulation at some point.
Probably not for many, many years. Certainly nowhere near as fast as with Switch 1. But it is inevitable that it will be playable without a Switch 2 at SOME point in the future.
Just beat the recompiled version recently and damn is it impressive! This remake looks very odd, style wise. I’ll have to wait but I think I’m fine sitting this one out for now.
A month ago, I would have been right there with you. But the Steam Deck RAMpocalypse pricing made me realize that there won’t be any new sub-$1000 consoles for a long time. I figured I might as well get a Switch 2 while the price is the lowest it will be in its lifetime so I can play the exclusives that come out on it, because I certainly won’t be getting a PS6 or new PC any time soon! The last time I gave Nintendo money was for TotK in May 2023 until I got the Switch 2 last week.
I wonder how different it will be mechanically from the original. I think it holds up pretty well once you get used to the controls
Wonder how it’ll stack up to the recomp project
I believe this is a full-on remake, so it will probably be pretty different.
Ugh. I will never buy another Nintendo thing if I can avoid it, but I’d be lying if I said this game didn’t really test my willpower.
Buy a steam deck, emulate the n64 version. Win win.
Buy it second hand! Or buy it if they really nail it and don’t make it a game key card
I’m pretty sure Nintendo hasn’t published a single key card game.
Pokopia?
Yep. I don’t follow Pokémon so I had to double check. There’s usually some weaselly stuff going on with Pokémon as it’s technically The Pokémon Company and Gamefreaks doing the heavy lifting… but Nintendo did indeed publish Pokopia outside of Japan. No weaseling out of this one.
Nintendo specifically said that Nintendo developed games wouldn’t be key cards, so even though it is weaselly, it does follow what they said.
The game is coming out this year, so why didn’t they show even the smallest snippet of gameplay? So weird.
There might be a Nintendo Direct specific to this game soon. Remember they did a Star Fox Direct out of nowhere to present that game.
They looooove doing individual directs for their big games these days, I’m certain that’s what they’ll do for it.
I think the little bit they did show looked… off? I think I would have preferred a Twilight Princess remake.
Plus with next year’s Zelda movie they’ll do a gameplay/movie trailer wombo combo in like September
I was a little bummed about a remake instead of a new game announcement, but I just remembered I’ve never played any of the N64 lineup. Put me in the “looking forward to it” group!
You’ve never played any N64 game? Not even on NSO?
I wish they had shown just a little more! I’m mostly curious if they’re going to tone down the Shadow Temple because with this fidelity it’s going to affect the age rating for sure.
Can’t wait to see this guy in HD!

Huh, looks like they already toned it down for the 3DS, it’s been too long since I played that version (and only once). He looks like the took a shower before the fight compared to the original.

I noticed that, too. The remake will almost certainly have the blood cleaned up as well, but hopefully he’s nightmare-inducing regardless.
Why would it affect the rating? Skulls and ghosts and a few blades aren’t exactly M for mature material.
Blood and very direct allusions to torture. The Shadow Temple was strangely unaffected by all other changes to blood color in the game, but it won’t be hidden in muddy textures this time.
Was any blood changed other than Ganondorf’s at the end of the game?
Some enemies have blood effects and attacking the walls of Jabu Jabu’s insides does the same. Those aren’t ‘changes’ in the Ganondorf sense as there is no version where those are red, but they made the conscious decision to have blood effects in a softened form, which I consider a change.
