The timing of the boat’s arrival in Seattle and the job cuts was coincidental, but the irony was not lost among the people who hustled down to the locks to see the giant yacht after word spread through the neighborhood and online. Some booed from the shore and heckled the crew.
Bumpers on the side of the boat were about the size of small SUVs, while the back deck had a covered pool and hot tub. More than a dozen crew members were visible, many enjoying the trip through the channel on a partly sunny evening.
That is 100% close enough to land a molotov

They should have been raining down from both sides of the canal.

Drone-deployed thermite, anyone?
Except Americans are fucking cowards to the last individual
I don’t strictly disagree, but it’s harder for Americans to properly protest when they may be killed or jailed for a peaceful protest vs, say, France, where farmers literally coated government buildings with shit and their non-militarized police just went “well of course, that’s their right!” Meanwhile, when German press went to the US to cover the George Floyd protests, police shot at them, even though they were well identified, cooperative members of the press.
It’s not like Americans have been dining out on a national identity of “personal sacrifice to fight tyranny against great odds” for a couple centuries or anything, right?
If they’d spent the last 50 years of obnoxious flag-waving about “let’s all not make waves and chill out so that we can continue to keep our shitty jobs and maintain our relative comfort,” then I’d give them a pass.
But no- putting down authoritarians and fascists is exactly the thing Americans have spent the last 70 years belligerently insisting they’re especially good at. If they don’t have this, they have fucking nothing and they deserve whatever MAGA gives them.
I saw this when I was on vacation in Mo’orea a couple of years back. It’s truly egregious. There’s a helipad, jet skis, a floating bouncy house, and more. As ridiculous as that is, his super yacht has a buddy yacht that has a full medical staff on board and travels with it. It looks like a military radar ship with all of the dishes and shit on it.
Eat the rich.
If I was a talented writer I would consider a short story about someone getting onto the medical staff just to murder Zuckerberg.
Maybe some sort of rom-com where two people have done so and they suspect each other of being corporate bootlickers, but in the end they fall in love. And murder Zuckerberg.
Oh the romantic payoff would be fantastic :-)
Idris Elba and Anne Hathaway should be the leads.
I still can’t wrap my head around why he has 2 helipads. They don’t have that for most hospitals.
One for his helicopter and another for his built in bionic flight system. He’s rich enough that he can have separate helipads for each.
If I had to work for Zuck I’d be fucking thrilled to be on the buddy yacht instead of the main ship.
Remember that time when Ukraine used a remote control mini boat loaded with explosives to sink a war ship that was basically the jewel of Russia’s navy?
Anyway, just reminiscing. Gonna read the article now.
Not sure if you mean the Moskva, that one was taken out by anti-ship missiles. But let’s do both, just to be sure?
Didn’t the boat take out a bridge?
While I’m all against polluting, that would make a fine artificial reef at the bottom of the lake.
Complete with zuckerberg skeliton.
Set it on fire.
Literally took the words out of my mouth!
Torch it!
Sorry but why are these things even called yachts still? Mega yacht, super yacht, whatever you call it they are basically billionaire holiday ships.
They are basically the billionaires version of an emotional support vehicle (aka. american sized pickup trucks), and should have a name that reflects that, not take the name of a small self skippered boat thats used for adventure and exploration under the skippers own sweat and skill rigging the sails, steering, etc.Yeah. It’s a motorboat. My great uncle was rich and had a ridiculously big motorboat, but he never called it a yacht. He loved sailing. He had two actual yachts for that.
motorboat is not the term you guys are looking for. a motorboat is a step above a dinghy
Motorboating usually happens to tig ol bitties.
It’s a boat. With a motor.
Although we do mockingly refer to ugly boats like that as clothes irons.
Cope boat
Yeah, my first thought was “that’s no yacht. It’s a ship.”
underwater drone with 5kg of c4
Wait wait wait wait! Hold on! You should be ashamed for even suggesting that!!! You can’t sink Zuckerbergs yacht!!!
Get a camera crew down there first, and put it on ppv! THEN blow it up!!! I’d pay $34.99 or whatever the current ppv price model is to watch Zuckerbergs yacht get blown up!
But also, can we do this while he’s out at sea first???
Wait!!! Hold on!!!
…I need to go make popcorn first.
He would just buy another, probably even bigger 😕
then we infect the supply chain
The problem is insurance would pay it off and all their customers would get a payment augmentation. Isn’t it nice how the rich world works.
5kg of c4
overkill. Shitty shotgun loaded with a slug. Hit it at the right spot.
I’m surprised there aren’t more protesters. When the Mercers were on Lake Union, there were a lot of them. I’m sure it’s just his crew because it’s parked over on Lake Union at the usual yacht space. They sold *Boeing’s and it has taken that spot.
FYI, it’s twice as big as *Boeing’s yacht.
Man, fuck the Mercers!
Seattle does live to gather for a protest
You’d better thank America’s Job Creators for the gig economy, Peasants!
Wouldn’t it be funny if someone snuck onboard and sabotaged that fucker somehow?
would be the perfect crime. there’s 1400 suspects.
It would give me joy to see that thing sink.
Did The Zuck pop for the super deluxe Molotov Cocktail countermeasure system? Asking for a friend.
my reaction to the video: ew ew ew ew ew ew ew
Anyone have the number of the Orca maybe a Orca signal. We really need them.
I dislike the crew that work for him, too. The thing is useless without a crew, and people could make that choice.
As if your boss isn’t probably a rich asshole too.
What happened to “anything it takes to survive under capitalism”?
Disclaimer: I’ve argued against that idea since the first time I heard it, just pointing out that point who hold it don’t have much ground to criticized the employees of oligarchs…
I’m glad I don’t work for a rich asshole! Not everybody has sold out to a corporate overlord, I have only had 1 job briefly at a chain and there’s a good reason for that. Every other job has been a middle class at best local small business owner. I understand it isn’t always possible for everybody, but you do have some choice. I know I could make more somewhere else but I also don’t want to wake up ready to suck start a shotgun every day!
No, I always worked for small businesses. I mean, yeah, the bosses were still assholes, but not filthy rich megalomaniacs.
Also, the handful of people who do this for a living certainly could find other employment. No one is forced to choose between super yacht crew and homelessness.
Finally, while this might be the best option available, they should instead “take one for the team”, and choose the second best. Yes, I’m suggesting that people make that “sacrifice.”
The suppliers? Is everything locally grown/made with no outside influence?
